The locks were part of an Elvis memorabilia collection offered by Leslie Hindman auctioneers in The Windy City. The collection, which belonged to former Presley fan club president Gary Pepper, also includes stage clothes, records, and Christmas cards.

Pepper died in 1980 and left the collection to his nurse, who is now putting it up for sale. Early estimates projected the hair would sale for between $8,000 and $12,000.

The hair was shorn from the legend’s head when he joined the US Army in 1958.

A clump of The King’s hair is expected to fetch $12,000 when it is goes up for auction in Chicago later this month. The black locks were salvaged by a friend of the music legend’s after Presley enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1958.

Elvis’ hair is being sold as part of a collection of Elvis memorabilia — which includes signed records, photos and clothing — which will go under the hammer on Oct. 18, The Chicago Sun-Times reported Thursday.

Jay’s new disc, The Blueprint 3, will likely be his eleventh No. 1 album, taking him past the “Jailhouse Rock” hitmaker’s record of ten number ones. The LP, which features hits like “Run This Town” and “Death of Autotune,” has moved 476,000 copies.

In the meantime, The Beatles remain the most successful act on the US chart, earning 19 US No. 1 albums.

This year, Halloween got started a little early at Lisa Marie’s house.

Lisa Marie Presley recently channeled a medium, a person acts as an intermediary between the physical world and the spiritual world, to introduce her famous dad, Elvis, to her newborn twin daughters, Harper and Finley.

“This was my dad, this was Elvis coming through!” the 40-year-old mother of four says of the spook session. “I would know his energy anywhere and this was him, I have no doubt,” Lisa Marie insists.

“Not only was it his voice, but I could also feel the exact same love that he gave me when I was a little girl. It was so overwhelming that I started to cry.”

“The medium comforted me with his words by telling me he was proud of me, the babies were beautiful, he’s doing just fine on the other side, he watches over me….We had this amazing talk.”

She adds, “The most comforting thing he told me is that even though he’s not here physically any more, he is still with me and he’ll watch over the babies too.”

Though Elvis isn’t the main character in the upcoming movie Walk Hard, he does make an appearance or two in it. So who’s playing the King? None other than Mr. Jack White from the White Stripes. If you ask me, it’s a great call. Jack White has just the sensibilities and the right looks to make it work.
