An Elton John biopic is on the way.
He’s “still standing” after five decades in the music business, and now Sir Elton’s about to take his story and music to the big screen in the aptly-titled biopic Rocketman. John and husband David Furnish are producing a “biographical musical fantasy” that traces John’s transformation from a gifted child pianist who rebelled against his strict upbringing to become one of the world’s highest-selling and most-loved music and pop culture icons. They’ve enlisted Lee Hall, who collaborated with John on the award-winning international stage musical of Billy Elliott, Deadline said Thursday.

It’s safe to assume new pop Elton John’s isn’t getting any advice on parenting from his mother. Sheila Farebrother, the music legend’s 86-year-old mom, says she’s yet to meet her four-month-old grandson, Zachary, over a family feud that’s kept her off speaking terms with the “Rocket Man” hitmaker for the past three years.
