Duffy was unveiled as the new face of Diet Coke’s UK ad campaign in a commercial that debuted during the 2009 Brit Awards in London Wednesday night.

Speaking of the Brits, the Welsh singer was a big hit at last night’s ceremony, taking home three of the four gongs she was nominated for.

Duffy set fire to her hair just seconds before meeting Coldplay frontman Chris Martin for the first time last month.

“I was in the dressing room and I had dimmed the lights, then I lit this candle and it started melting a bit. I thought, ‘Shit!’ and started blowing it out. I got a cloth to wipe it and bent down, not realising it was still lit. Then the entire left side of my hair went up in flames,” she exclaims.

Duffy managed to put the flames out just before Martin walked in. “It was really bad and properly embarrassing. Chris could smell it. You couldn’t avoid smelling it.”

And guess which View hostess had a hand in inspiring Duffy’s signature blue-eyed soul sound? None other than Whoopi Goldberg.

“My first introduction to soul music was Sister Act, so I’m having a Whoopi moment. I’ve gone full-circle.”

After taking the American music world by storm with the release of her debut album, Rockferry, earlier this year, Welsh-born singer Duffy is starring in her first endorsement ad in the U.S.

The “Mercy” hitmaker is the new face of Nivea, appearing in the skincare brands latest ad campaign, featured exclusively in the September issue of Fashion Rocks Magazine.

Duffy was downright giddy when she found out iconic rock band Bon Jovi covered her hit single “Mercy.”

“It’s a strange feeling when a person at that level is playing a song I wrote. It’s like, ‘Oh my gosh, I’m really here now. Bon Jovi knows that I exist.’ A girl from Wales – that’s all I am, really,” the 24 year-old Welsh singer says in the August 2008 issue of Spin Magazine.

Duffy, whose debut effort Rockferry made an impressive premiere on the charts, recently scored the opportunity to record the theme song for How To Lose Friends and Alienate People; the movie starring Kirsten Dunst and Megan Fox opens in October.
