Duane Chapman just dodged a bullet. Literally.

The star of A&E’s Dog The Bounty Hunter was shot at while trying to apprehend a man wanted for second degree murder in Colorado Springs on Tuesday.

Doug and bail bondsman Bobby Brown were armed with paintball guns while trying to capture Hoang Nguyen, 35. Nguyen was later apprehended at a local Toys R Us.

No one was injured.

Dog The Bounty Hunter will return to the air on A&E this summer, the network said in a statement late Wednesday. The move comes several months after the hit series was pulled when reality star Duane “Dog” Chapman repeatedly used the racial slur “nigger” in a secretly record profanity-laced tirade that was later sold to The National Enquirer-by Chapman’s own son.

“It’s not about ratings,” A&E spokesman Michael Feeney said. “We know his heart. We know him and know he’s not a racist.”

Dog claims that he has received counseling:

“There was one perfect person, and they called him Jesus Christ,” the professional bounty hunter said. “You have to … realize that everyone is human, and you can err.”

Filming has already begun on the fifth season, A&E execs report. Viewers can catch reruns of the show beginning June 25th. New episodes of Dog The Bounty Hunter including ones from the fourth season that have not previously aired, airing later this year.

Dog the Bounty Hunter is returning to the airwaves. An A&E network executive confirms to TMZ that the show is going back into production.

Makeup artists and camera crews have been hired, and houses and cars have been rented, all for the return of the show, TMZ reports.

A&E had suspended production on Dog the Bounty Hunter indefinitely late last year. after a recording surfaced featuring Dog making racial slurs.

“Chapman told me himself that there was a bounty on his head from the white Aryan Nations. They don’t believe he is demonstrating enough white pride… Chapman’s not only upset black America with his ugly taped talk, he’s now drawn the wrath of the white supremacists too.”

Monique Shinnery, the African-American girlfriend of Tucker Chapman, who is at the center of the Dog The Bounty Hunter race scandal, plans to sue Duane ‘Dog’ Chapman.

“I’m going to sue Dog Chapman,” the special needs teacher tells The National Enquirer.

“I want justice,” Monique says. “He has slandered me, stated that I have bad character and repeatedly lied about me on national television. If I’m ever going to hold my head up in public again, I need to stand up for what is right.”

Dog Chapman spoke out to Fox News’ Hannity & Colmes on Tuesday night. It was his first public interview to discuss his racist telephone rant that was taped by his son, Tucker, and sold to the National Enquirer for $15,000.

“I thought that I was cool enough in the black world to be able to use that word as a brother to a brother. I’m not. I didn’t really know until three or four days ago what that meant to black people.”

“There’s a special connection that I thought I had between me and black America. And I used to say, ‘I’m black, too.’
“In other words, my whole life I’ve been called a half-breed, a convict, king of the trailer trash, this and that…so when I stood there and said, ‘I kind of know what you feel like, because I’ve been there, too,’ that I felt that I could embrace and like, as brothers…say the word.”

“I now learned I’m not black at all, and I never did it out of hate,” Chapman continued. “This sounds so stupid. I always did it out of love. Other white guys would be like, ‘Boy, who does Dog think he is? Dog can say that.’ And black guys would be with me and walk with me and respect me.

“So, I went too far with that.”

I could kill myself and people would forgive me, I would do that. I said on the way here, “I hope no one died thinking I meant that word before I got here. I must come out.”

A&E cancelled “Dog the Bounty Hunter” on Friday after the show’s star Duane “Dog” Chapman was recorded spewing a racist rant about his son’s Black girlfriend. (Read More About That Here)

The network suspended the show Wednesday after the National Enquirer posted the tape online.

In a statement, the network says:

“In evaluating the circumstances of the last few days, A&E has decided to take ‘Dog The Bounty Hunter’ off the network’s schedule for the foreseeable future,” A&E said in statement. “We hope that Mr. Chapman continues the healing process that he has begun.”

(Good, hopefully he won’t end up back on television like that other bigoted asshat, Isiah Washington. People stupid enough to use epithets against others in a setting where it can come back to bite them in the butt, deserve exactly what they’ve got coming to them.)

Duane “Dog” Chapman’s private phone conversation, in which he used the N-word repeatedly, was taped and sold to The National Enquirer by his son, Tucker, according to the television bounty hunter’s attorney.

Attorney Brook Hart told The Associated Press that Dog’s son, Tucker, sent the recording to the tabloid for “a lot of money.”

The reported amount Tucker sold his white-sheeted daddy for is $15,000.

“I guess because of whatever level of anger he had of his father, he felt the need to express it in that manner,” Hart said.
