Disney: Additional 3D Re-Releases Will Follow “The Lion King”
On Tuesday, Disney announced plans to release 3D versions of four of their classic animated movies following the recent renewed box office success of The Lion King. The 1994 drama about the lion cub heir to a jungle kingdom topped the weekend box office two weeks in a row and has earned almost $80 million in ticket sales since it was re-released into theaters last month.
Beauty and the Beast, Finding Nemo, Monsters, Inc., and The Little Mermaid will make 3D theatrical debut in 2012 and 2013, the studio said Tuesday.
