The 20-year-old star — best remembered as Miley Stewart’s on-again/off-again boyfriend Jack Ryan on Disney’s Hannah Montana – has signed on to appear in the war-themed musical Over Here!, opening on New York’s famous theater district next year.

“Cody is very excited about going to Broadway,” says a rep for the star.

The updated script will see aspiring writer Harriet determined to be her high school’s class blogger as she clashes with her nemesis, popular student Marion Hawthorne, The Hollywood Reporter said Friday.

In 1996, the 1964 book by Louise Fitzhugh was turned into a feature film with a young Michelle Trachtenberg in the starring role.

The kiddie cable channel has ordered second seasons of The Jonas Brothers comedy series J.O.N.A.S. and the reality series Jonas Brothers: Living the Dream.

Production on Season 2 on J.O.N.A.S. will begin in February for a premiere in the middle of next year. It will follow Kevin, Joe and Nick Jonas as they set out on a summer vacation in Los Angeles that leads to them landing gigs in show business.

“These guys are the superstars of their generation,” Gary Marsh, Disney Channels Worldwide Entertainment President said in a statement Monday. “We had the opportunity to extend our relationship with them, which we did.”

On Thursday, Disney unveiled plans to put a little more rogue in the world’s most beloved rodent. We guess that miss bye-bye Minnie and Pluto…After being left virtually untouched since his “Steamboat Willy” days, Mickey is ditching the suit and bow-tie for edgier duds in 2010. The company hopes the change will make The Mouse more marketable in modern day films and video games, according to a scoop featured in The New York Times. In fact, Disney is looking to alter the way Mickey lives in a bid to show the character’s “darker side.” Er — Mickey’s a cartoon, he’s not supposed to have a “darker side.”

Mickey will show off his new look in the video game Epic Mickey, debuting next fall.

The Hannah Montana star recently left the popular microblogging site and later wrote a rap explaining her reasons for doing so. However, Miley believes the service is “unhealthy” because it prevents people from experiencing life.

“I think that everyone should leave Twitter,” the Tween Queen said during an interview with Chicago radio station B96. “I think Twitter should just be banned from this universe.”

“All I did was lay in bed on my computer and sit there and eat ice cream late at night,” she explained. “You don’t end up living your life and you end up saying things that really is no-one else’s business. And I’m not a big fan of the internet anymore. I don’t really go online.”

A crazed fan recently threatened to kill her pet cat unless Miley returns to Twitter by Nov. 6.

Some Looney Bird Johnson out on the Interwebs is threatening to send her kitty to swim with the fishes unless Miles — who was recently voted this year’s “Worst Teen Role Model” by the readers of AOL’s young adult-interest blog — gets her butt back to Tweeting about pimples, pronto!

Said psycho is threatening to cook and eat Fuzzy The Cat unless Miley reopens her account by Nov. 16. This has got to be bogus. If it isn’t, there are no words. Thank goodness, I am an ’80s baby! What the actual hell is wrong with these kids today?

Miley Cyrus’ once squeaky-clean image has taken another public beating; one of Disney’s hottest stars has been voted the worst celebrity influence of 2009 by the very people who made her a star, tweens and teens, according to an online poll on Wednesday.

The 16-year-old starlet took 42 percent of votes in the poll for AOL’s new JSYK.com (Just So You Know) website aimed at 9-15 year-olds. Miley’s crowning pushed Comeback Queen Britney Spears and controversial rapper Kanye West into second and third places, respectively, in a section on worst celebrity influences of the year.
