These days, Tina Fey is best known as an award-winning comedienne and frequent covergirl, but things weren’t always so easy for the down-to-earth star.
Administrators at a Connecticut college are set to implement a new scheme to protect student interns working on the Late Show with David Letterman.
Earlier this month, the CBS late night comic was forced to confess to a string of affairs with at least eight female interns and staffers, following a botched extortion attempt. The news stunned officials at Quinnipiac University, who often send broadcast journalism majors to nearby New York City to intern on Letterman’s Late Show.
The college says it will tell staff in charge of placing interns to be particularly careful when sending students to the historic Ed Sullivan Theater.
“Due to recent circumstances we will have a discussion with those in charge of placing our interns at the David Letterman show in the future,” a rep from Quinnipac told TMZ.com overnight. “We will diligently oversee this internship program to ensure that our interns are out of harms’s way.”

Late Late Show host Craig Ferguson has made a name for himself by poking fun at celebs making tabloid-esque headlines. However, the British-born comic is choosing his words wisely when discussing the sex blackmail scandal surrounding David Letterman. As the host of the CBS Late Late Show, Craig follows Letterman’s Late Show. Dave also Craig’s boss, since his production company produces the Late Late Show.
Ferguson pointed out his awkward position in Monday’s preshow monologue, asking the audience to “put yourself in my position.”
“The person you work for, the person you admire and respect, is caught in an embarrassing situation. And your job is to be funny about that, whilst trying to keep your own job..So this is my last show,” he joked.
Disgraced unnyman of late night David Letterman used a portion of last night’s Late Show to extend an apology to his wife Regina and series staff after last week’s bombshell revelation that comedian has had sexual relationships with staffers over the years.
During a Late Show taping yesterday, Dave publicly apologized to his wife for cheating on her before they were married.
Monday’s taping was Letterman’s first since announcing a $2 million attempt to extort him with info over the staff sex secrets last Thursday.
What do you think of this apology, guys? Is he sincere?
“I’m terribly sorry that I put the staff in that position. Inadvertently, I just wasn’t thinking ahead. And, moreover, the staff here has been wonderfully supportive to me, not just through this furor, but through all the years that we’ve been on television and especially all the years here at CBS, so, again, my thanks to the staff for, once again, putting up with something stupid I’ve gotten myself involved in,” the 62-year-old said Monday.
“Now the other thing is my wife, Regina. She has been horribly hurt by my behavior, and when something happens like that, if you hurt a person and it’s your responsibility, you try to fix it. And at that point, there’s only two things that can happen: either you’re going to make some progress and get it fixed, or you’re going to fall short and perhaps not get it fixed, so let me tell you folks, I got my work cut out for me.”
