The Davids of American Idol will visit the ladies of The View when ABC’s daytime chatfest makes it’s annual summer trek from New York to Las Vegas the week of June 23-27. The Davids will perform on the show on June 24th. As a matter of fact, The View’s venture to Vegas is shaping up to be one filled with starpower, as Rihanna, Heidi Montag, Jessica Simpson, Bette Midler, and Jimmy Kimmel each make appearances on the show that week. Who knew Whoopi was Team Heidi?

If Disney gets its way, Zac Efron won’t be the only heart-throb at East High when High School Musical 3 hits the big screen in October. The studio is in a backstage battle with American Idol in hopes of casting Archuleta in a small cameo appearance in Musical. Here’s where things get dicey; Idol practically owns the seventeen year old singer until he completes his run on this Summer’s Idols Live Tour. Per an ironclad contract, former Idol contestants are prohibited from participating in anything “un-Idol” until the September after the show’s May finale.

It’ll be a tough fight…..but insiders say the tricky deal just might be worked out because Disney, Fox and Cowell recognize the fantastic cross-promotion that could generate Big Buck$$, The National Enquirer reports.

American Idol producers have pulled the plug on a hometown charity concert by Season Seven runner-up David Archuleta. According Archuleta’s agent, Roger Widynowski, the Back Home With David Archuleta concert, originally scheduled for Friday night in Salt Lake City, was cancelled over “contractual obligations.” Technically, Idol contestants are not permitted to participate in an non-show related events until the Idols Live Tour wraps up in September. David Archuleta is officially a signed recording artist with an album headed to a Target Store near you. The seventeen year old American Idol 7 runner-up has inked a record deal with 19 Recordings/Jive Records, the same label winner David Cook signed to last week.

“Signing a record contract with 19 Recordings/Jive Records is truly a dream come true,” David said in a statement Thursday. “I’m really excited to start working on everything.”

If you thought Jeff Archuleta was a problem, you haven’t seen anything yet. Who knew American Idol 7 runner-up David Archuleta had not one but two insane parents. David’s mom, Lupe Archuleta, erupted into a violent tirade, accusing the FOX talent hit of being “fixed,” just moments after her seventeen year old son lost the title to twenty-five year old former bartender David Cook.

“She was very resentful that David Cook took home the title and she wasn’t shy about letting people know how she felt about it,” a backstage spy told the National Enquirer. “She said her son was the clear favorite, and it was obvious that the voting was fixed so that David Cook could win.” Read the rest of this entry »
