MTV is putting a kink in Audrina’s Dancing dreams!

E! News tattles claim MTV has forced an excited Audrina Patridge to pull out of plans to kick off her Sunday shoes on the upcoming ninth season of ABC’s ballroom reality competitition, Dancing With The Stars. Network execs at the network–where Audrina has made a name for herself as one of a dozen affluent twentysomething socialites conquering adulthood in sunny L.A. on The Hills — reportedly fear that the grueling schedule customary of DWTS contestants will cause “schedule conflicts” for The Hills .
“They won’t let Audrina do it. They told her it would be impossible because of scheduling conflicts,” reveals an E! source, who adds, “Audrina wants to do it. Everyone around her wants her to do it, but MTV, for some reason, won’t make it happen. Why wouldn’t they want someone from The Hills on such a huge show?”
Designer Vera Wang, La Toya Jackson, and reality star Dean McDermott are among the stars who will reportedly hit the ballroom when Dancing With The Stars kicks off its ninth season on ABC September 21. An official announcement of this season roster will be revealed on Good Morning America this Monday.
The job offers continue to pour in for Paula Abdul. ABC has invited Abdul to join its ballroom dance series, Dancing with the Stars, after learning that the former American Idol judge will not return to her post on the top-rated FOX talent competition next season.
“I would love that,” ABC Entertainment President Stephen McPherson told reporters at the Television Critics Association Summer Press Tour in Pasadena on Saturday. “I was a little stunned by the decision, and we would love to have her on ‘Dancing,’ as a contestant, participant or judge.”
He added, “I think she’s a huge talent. I think there’s a lot made of her in terms of who she is… There’s a sensitivity and an emotion to her that balances out Idol, and we’d love to have a piece of that.”
Derek Hough and Shannon Elizabeth took to their Twitter pages on Friday to share news of their breakup.
Derek, 24, began dating the 35-year-old American Pie star while competing together on the sixth season of Dancing With The Stars in 2008. On Friday, both posted Twitter statements announcing the split.
Tori Spelling’s actor husband is in talks to compete on the ninth season of ABC’s ballroom reality series Dancing With The Stars, premiering September 21.
“He wants to do it,” a source close to Tori & Dean’s Dean McDermott has revealed to E! News. “He’d be really good at it, too.”
The new lineup of dancing novices competing for the Golden Disco Ball trophy will be formally announced on Good Morning America August 17.

The dancers became engaged in December 2008 but plan wait until next summer for their wedding.
Maksim and Karina have hired a wedding planner for their June 2010.
“We don’t plan [the wedding],” Maksim told PEOPLE Magazine on Friday. “We’re [working] 14 hours a day. This is our life right now,” he said. “We’re not rushing,” Karina added. “As long as we’re together, tying the knot is a plus, it’s something extra.”
The two are currently in the new Broadway dance show Burn The Floor.
Dancing With The Stars judge Len Goodman has had surgery to remove a cancerous tumour in his prostate gland.
The 65-year-old underwent an operation three weeks ago at a Bupa Hospital in Blackheath, London.
Len was diagnosed with the disease following a routine check-up in March, but he put off treatment until he had finished filming the current season of DWTS.
“I could have said “sorry” and not done the show, but the doctors felt I wasn’t riddled with it and it wasn’t so far advanced that it was a life-or-death scenario,” Len told the Mail On Sunday.
“It takes a few weeks to get everything set up for the operation anyway, so I went ahead and did the show. I had the surgery done as soon as I got back from America.”
Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Karina Smirnoff are making their Broadway debut this summer. The engaged stars of ABC’s ballroom reality series, Dancing With The Stars, will appear in Burn The Floor, a Broadway dance showcase opening next month.
Maks and Karina will star in the show for the first three weeks of its run, which kicks off at New York’s Longacre Theatre on July 25 for previews and officially opens on August 2.

Vera Wang is about to give Dancing With The Stars an extra dose of style. The former Vogue editor and reigning queen of wedding gown designers has signed on to show off her jive on the ninth season of ABC ballroom dance reality series, E! is reporting.
The 59-year-old — who once trained to become a professional figure skater — is the first star to sign up for the new season of the show, which will premiere on September 21.
