The Man still had “it.” The highly anticipated Michael Jackson concert documentary This Is It has already set a record!

The Sony film grossed an estimated $2.2 million at the North American box office during Tuesday night’s limited theater release, Variety reports. This is a record for a Tuesday October release.

On Wednesday, This Is It opened in 3,500 theaters and IMAX screens nationwide, in addition to thousands more overseas.

Los Angeles came to a standstill on Tuesday night as Hollywood A-listers joined the Jackson brothers for the premiere of the King of Pop’s concert rehearsal movie This Is It.

The film – featuring Michael Jackson’s final stage performances before his death in June – has been cut from 80 hours of videotape filming the star’s last few days of rehearsals for the concerts planned for London’s O2 arena in July.

Last night’s Los Angeles launch coincided with the worldwide release of the film, which premiered across 15 cities including London, Seoul, South Korea; Johannesburg, South Africa; Rio De Janeiro, Brazil and Berlin, Germany.

The tragic superstar’s brothers Jermaine, Tito, Jackie and Marlon walked the red carpet alongside Will Smith, Jennifer Lopez, Katy Perry and Paris Hilton.

Bruce Springsteen Death In Family Prompts Kansas City Concert Cancellation

Bruce Springsteen cancelled a performance at the Sprint Center in Kansas City on Monday night after his cousin and road crew member died suddenly

The death of 36-year-old Lenny Sullivan was announced in a statement on Springsteen’s website.

Sullivan was found dead at Kansas City’s Intercontinental Hotel hours before Springsteen and the E Street Band were to take the stage. Kansas City police spokesman Capt. Rich Lockhart said officers were investigating the death, although he said it was not suspicious.

The Sprint Center Arena said tickets would be refunded.

On Friday, Royal Caribbean announced that the embattled pop princess will be the first entertainer to perform aboard Oasis of the Seas, the world’s largest cruise ship, at its unveiling in Fort Lauderdale on Nov. 19.

Rihanna is readying the release of her fourth studio album, Rated R, scheduled for release on Nov. 23.

U2 Rose Bowl Concert YouTube Live Stream

U2 and YouTube have teamed up to broadcast a live stream of the band’s concert at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, this weekend. Any fan wishing to tune in from the 16 countries supported will be able to do so for free this Sunday, Oct. 25.

This is YouTube’s second attempt at live-streaming concerts. In August, the video-sharing site aired portions of the Outside Lands music festival in San Francisco.

Portions of the stream will be archived and available for streaming after the event.

Fan Dies At Kelly Clarkson Concert In Boston

Kelly Clarkson’s Tuesday night concert in Boston, Massachusetts was marred by tragedy after a fan suffered a fatal heart attack, The Detroit Free Press reports.

A 38-year-old man collapsed while the pop star was onstage at Boston University’s Agganis Arena. He was unconscious and in cardiac arrest when paramedics arrived on the scene at approximately 10PM to transport him by ambulance to a nearby hospital. He was later pronounced dead, Boston University spokesman Colin Riley said.

“It’s terribly tragic, unfortunate,” he said. “But the EMTs did everything they can and I’m sure they’re very saddened that they weren’t able to revive the individual.”

Lady Gaga is bouncing back from the cancellation of her highly-anticipated “Fame Kills Tour” with embattled hip-hop star Kanye West – she’ll hit North America with rapper Kid Cudi instead.

“Due to diligent work and preparation, The Monster Ball will begin on November 27 in Montreal. The Monster Ball is a multimedia artistic experience in the style of the first-ever ‘pop electro opera,’” the “LoveGame” star said in a statement announcing the tour.

The Monster Ball will invade in cities including Las Vegas, Los Angeles and Miami before wrapping up at New York’s Madison Square Garden on Jan. 21.

Britney Spears is going “Down Under” next month, and the pop star has asked her entourage to undergo regular drug and alcohol tests before they hit the continent.

The 27-year-old hitmaker will perform for the first time in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, and Perth in November and has laid down strict disciplines for her employees if they want to be on the tour, tattles tell The Herald Sun.
