Conan O’Brien joined Twitter on Wednesday — proving that Coco Fever is still alive and well.
In his first-ever Twitter post and first public comment since his hosting final Tonight Show on Feb. 12, O’Brien sent his first Tweet on the microblogging site on Wednesday afternoon: “Today I interviewed a squirrel in my backyard and then threw to commercial. Somebody help me,” Conan wrote, later adding: “I had a show. Then I had a different show. Now I have a Twitter account.”
A firestorm followed; within the first three hours, an average of 1,000 new fans were signing up to follow Conan every minute.
Fans of ousted late-night host Conan O’Brien are hopping mad about the new “Get Back To Where I Once Belonged” promo toting Jay Leno’s return to The Tonight Show. In the ad, Hollywood’s biggest chin breezes down a winding road in one of his antique cars, smiling, in what seems to be a dig at the redhead comic affectionately known as Coco.
