Chris Klein has decided to extend his stay in rehab. The actor — pinched twice in the past five years for driving while intoxicated — checked into Cirque Lodge Treatment Center in Utah after his second DUI arrest last month.

Chris Klein has checked into rehab.

According to his rep, Jaime Primak, the former American Pie actor has voluntarily entered treatment for addiction to alcohol after picking up two collars for DUI in the past five years.

Actor Chris Klein has been slammed by officials of a leading animals rights group for driving under the influence with his dog riding shotgun.

A California Highway Patrol spokesman said Klein, 31, was taken into custody at approximately 3:13 AM Wednesday after the 1999 Chevy Blazer he was driving was seen drifting between lanes on the Los Angeles Freeway. Klein was late released on his own recognizance — but it’s the pet pooch cops found in the vehicle after Chris’ arrest that have animal rights activists fuming.

Former American Pie actor Chris Klein was arrested in Los Angeles early Wednesday for suspicion of DUI. The former beau of actress Katie Holmes was pulled over by cops in the San Fernando Valley at 3:13AM after his 1999 Chevy Blazer was spotted weaving across lanes on the westbound Hollywood Freeway. Klein was promptly taken into custody after failing a field sobriety test.

Chris — as you may recall — has had the blogosphere in stitches in recent weeks, thanks to his critically-panned Mamma Mia! audition tape.

After his headscratching and side-splittingly frightening Mamma Mia audition leaked to the Innernets last week, we knew it was only a matter of time before we were treated to more hilarious audition tapes from American Pie’s own Chris Klein.
