Johnson & Johnson heiress Casey Johnson struggled to control her almost lifelong battle against diabetes for more than 20 years — and the disease ultimately killed her. Johnson died of “diabetic ketoacidosis” — described as “an absolute shortage of insulin” — the Los Angeles Coroner announced on Thursday.
The cause of death was “natural.”

The troubled socialite, who was allegedly engaged to marry wacked-out reality star Tila Tequila, was found dead in her Los Angeles home on Jan. 4. She was 30. Johnson left behind her 3-year-old adopted daughter Ava, who is currently being cared for by Johnson’s mother Sale Johnson.
Earlier today, the L.A. Coroner’s Office also announced the cause of death of actress Brittany Murphy. Murphy, 32, died of a combination of multiple drug intoxication, pneumonia, and iron deficiency anemia.
Apparently, Tila Tequila wasn’t the only attention whore romantically-linked to Casey Johnson. Courtenay Semel, who bitterly split with the late Johnson & Johnson heiress in 2008, is spilling the beans on the lezzies’ previous life together, even revealing that the former couple once recorded a sex tape that they planned to use as a bargaining chip for a network reality show.

“We had our own sex tape,” Courtenay says in a new interview with E! News. “It was either listen to our families and do what they say to get our lives back, or do it ourselves and sell this tape, work on our show. That was kind of our plan.”
In an interview airing Wednesday on Extra, controversial celebutante Tila Tequila reveals that she is prepared to fight for custody of her late fiancee’s adopted daughter. Socialite Casey Johnson was found dead in her West Hollywood mansion last week. The heiress to the multi-billion dollar Johnson & Johnson empire left behind a 3-year-old daughter, Ava Monroe.

Little Ava — whose godmother is hotel heiress Nicky Hilton — currently lives with Casey’s mother Sale and her husband, sportscaster Ahmad Rashad. However, Tila cites cryptic “dreams” which tell her that the current custody arrangement is not the one Casey would have wanted. The former star of MTV’s A Shot At Love has vowed to file papers to fulfill Casey’s “final wish” and adopt the child.
“She’s not resting in peace right now. She has come to me in my dreams,” Tila explains. “Her last wish was to have Ava, have me have Ava.”
More than a week after her sudden death, Johnson & Johnson heiress Casey Johnson was laid to rest during a memorial in New Jersey on Tuesday, PEOPLE has learned.
Casey — romantically-linked to reality star Tila Tequila — was found dead in her West Hollywood home on Jan. 4. The socialite will be buried in a family tomb in New Bruinswick.

Celebutante Tila Tequila has sent out at least 160 tweets since the death of her fiancee, Johnson & Johnson heiress Casey Johnson, last week. While the reality starlet has fallen under fire for appearing more like an attention-seeking leech than a grieving widow, Tila says she’s turned to social networking and paparazzi photo-ops to deal with her grief because she has no one to talk to.
“Why do I tweet so much? Even BEFORE Casey passed away? BECAUSE I HAVE NO FRIENDS! THERE! THE TRUTH COMES OUT! Just pray 4 her please!” she posted on her Twitter account over the weekend, The Huffington Post reports. “PPL say I need 2 get off twitter & grieve with friends & family…WHERE? I DONT HAVE ANY! Casey was my only family & my Dogs! Worst day ever,” she added.
She has no family? Wait, didn’t Tila make a public announcement just last month claiming that she’s elected to be a surrogate for her childless brother and his sister-in-law?
