Could Tony Romo still be holding a torch for former flame Carrie Underwood? Despite courting Jessica Simpson for nearly a year, Romo still drops an occasional call to his “Jesus, Take The Wheel” singing ex.
“We were both small-town people doing very big things, and we relied on each other, dealing with fame,” Carrie says in the September issue of Allure Magazine. “I don’t know. The phone will ring and it’ll be him, and I’ll maybe not answer.”
Jessica Simpson was left red-faced and seething after an excited fan mistook her for arch enemy Carrie Underwood during a June 11th lunch date at Dos Caminos in the SoHo section of New York City.
“She wasn’t pleased that the girl had no clue who she was….She said she was her number-one fan from back in the Idol days,” a celebrity snitch spilled to OK! “Jessica smiled politely and didn’t correct her, and she started to laugh when the girl asked how she was doing since her devastating split from Chace [Crawford].”
Oh snap! Looks like Jessica Simpson just took her rumored rivalry with Carrie Underwood to the next level. The country music’s newest rising star was snapped walking around in Encino, California in the company of Carrie’s ex, Dallas Cowboys QB Tony Romo, while sporting a t-shirt proclaiming that “Real Girls Eat Meat.” The move is being preceived as a very public F-U to the Grammy-winning Underwood, who is a lifelong animal lover and devout vegetarian. Jessica Simpson has been long rumored to be jealous of fellow music star Carrie Underwood, who previously dated Jessica’s BF Tony Romo, and In Touch Weekly is reporting that the feeling may be mutual. According to a new report from the celebrity weekly, the blonde beauties refused to appear anywhere near each other during last week’s CMA Music Festival (June 5-June 8) in Nashville, even though event organizers tried to create a united front between the ladies:
“They wanted Jess to introduce Carrie, or have them attend a charity event together, or maybe even do a duet to put the rumors to rest about the feud,” an In Touch insider says. “But everything was thrown out there was rebuffed.”
