The legendary model and actress began feeling depressed after giving birth to daughter Rowan in 2003, following a miscarriage and seven times failed attempts at in vitro fertilization.

Shields said she couldn’t help but resent her daughter at the time for “ruining this for me.”

“I finally had a healthy beautiful baby girl and I couldn’t look at her,” she said, according to PEOPLE. “I couldn’t hold her and I couldn’t sing to her and I couldn’t smile at her…All I wanted to do was disappear and die.”

“The officers have specialist experience in this field and are keen to work with gallery management to ensure that they do not inadvertently break the law or cause any offence to their visitors,” a Scotland Yard spokesman told the paper.

The photograph is a a photograph of a 1975 portrait taken by Garry Gross with the permission of the actress’ “stage mom” mother, Teri Shields. It feature little Brooke wearing heavy makeup and standing nude in a bathtub.

The portrait was scheduled to be shown as part of the “Pop Life: Art in a Material World” Exhibit, which opened Thursday. Instead, the room containing the portrait has been reportedly closed off.

“The exhibit is temporarily closed. We are in discussions with police,” a spokesman for the Tate Modern said.

The 1983 image, shot by Richard Price, is actually a picture of an image taken in 1975 by artist Gary Cross. In it, a nude ten-year-old Brooke Shields, in heavy makeup, stands in a bath staring at the camera. The original photograph was taken after Cross hired young Brooke to be a model, allegedly with the permission of the star’s notorious stage mom, Terri.

The image will go on display Thursday as part of the Pop Life, Art In A Material World exhibition, which also features explicit sex acts and works made from the covers of X-rated magazines.

“Putting a sign on the door like that means every pedophile in the land will head straight to that room,” said Michele Elliott, founder of a children’s charity called Kidscape.

Brooke Shields has settled with The National Enquirer after two reporters for the tabloid allegedly checked the star’s mother, Teri Shields, out of her nursing home, PEOPLE reported Saturday.

The once-ferocious stage mom, now 75, suffers from dementia and was reportedly found next door at a restaurant in Old Tappan, New Jersey, later that day talking to a reporter.

At the time, Brooke vowed to “take every lawful action against all who were involved or who authorized this despicable act.” However, the former Lipstick Jungle star has agreed to forego litigation with the tab, in exchange for a donation to dementia research — and a letter of apology.

“Two weeks ago, Brooke Shields was forced to make a public disclosure about her mother, Teri Shields’s health, when we learned that Mrs. Shields had been taken out of a care facility by a reporter and photographer working for the National Enquirer and I was told that the National Enquirer was going to print information about her condition and whereabouts,” Gerald B. Lefcourt, Brooke’s attorney, claimed in a statement to the mag.

“I am very pleased to report that [the] National Enquirer was prevailed upon not to publish a story. Further, it has or will be apologizing publicly. Finally, it has agreed to make a generous donation to further research on dementia and to encourage others to do so.”

Brooke Shields believes if she’d been more comfortable with her body as a young woman, she would have lost her virginity much sooner.

In a new interview with Health Magazine, the actress who shocked audiences with her risque role in the 1980 film Blue Lagoon reveals that insecurity forced her to hold onto her virginity until her early 20s.

“Not learning to love the way I looked earlier. And I think I would have had sex a lot earlier,” she laughed. “I think I would have lost my virginity earlier than I did at 22. I had the public and all this pressure, and I wish I had just gotten it over with in the beginning when it was sort of OK. I think I would have been much more in touch with myself. I think I wouldn’t have had issues with weight — I carried this protective 20 pounds [in college]. It was all connected. And to me, that’s a health regret.”

Brooke’s second marriage to hubby Chris Henchy — with whom she has two daughters — has given the former model an interesting prospective on the secret to maintaining wedded bliss.

“Without love, I don’t think it’s possible, but it’s not the only thing. Love without communication means nothing. Love with completely different views on how you want to raise children? Doesn’t work.”

She continues, “Love can produce the children, but it has nothing to do with the raising of the children. I grew up thinking, oh, that’s it. All I have to do is fall in love. You may think love will change everything, but it really is different with children. Children don’t necessarily bring you together, they challenge you.”

Brooke annulled her marriage to tennis pro Andrew Agassi in 1999.

Brooke Shields has accused The National Enquirer of trying to exploit her vulnerable mother.

On Friday, the actress announced that her 75-year-old mom,Teri Shields, who suffers from dementia, was checked out of her New Jersey nursing home by two National Enquirer reporters in pursuit of a story.

“I intend to take every lawful action against all who were involved or who authorised this despicable act,” Brooke tells PEOPLE.

“My mother Teri Shields has been diagnosed with dementia. For her safety, she has temporarily been in a senior living facility, a very difficult decision for me. Late Thursday afternoon, I was alerted by [police] that my mother had been signed out of the facility by two reporters of the National Enquirer – who falsely claimed they were friends of hers.”

She added: “They then drove my 75-year-old mother around looking for a tabloid story. As anyone knows who has a parent who suffers from dementia or Alzheimer’s, it is one of the most difficult experiences you can go through as a son or daughter. The idea that the National Enquirer took advantage of her state is reprehensible and disgusting.”

The National Enquirer has since disputed the star’s accusations in an official statement, responding with: “At no point did the facility, which had given its permission for the outing, contend that there had been any wrongdoing in a situation where two people who had known each for more than a decade.”

On Monday, lawyers for actress Brooke Shields released a statement in response to reports that the witnessed the alleged argument — and subsequent headbutting –between Kiefer Sutherland and fashion designer Jack McCollough that lead to the 24 star’s collar on third degree assault charges last Friday.

Kiefer allegedly headbutted the Proenza Schouler designer during a MET Costume Gala afterparty last week.

“A number of statements have been attributed to Ms. Shields in the media that are neither true nor authorized. These statements were obviously made by those who were not in attendance at the party and constitute their version of events,” her lawyers told Entertainment Tonight.

“While at the party she [Shields] was bumped into by Jack McCollough and Kiefer Sutherland became concerned. Kiefer has always been a gentleman in her company. Both Jack and Kiefer are friends of Ms. Shields and she regrets this unfortunate situation,” the statment continued.
