Barry Manilow, who is promoting his new album The Greatest Songs of the Eighties, performed Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers’ classic hit “Islands In The Stream” live on Good Morning America Friday.

Barry will be roasted as the newest celebrity inductee of The Friars Club in NYC over the weekend.

Legendary singer Barry Manilow will be inducted into the World-Famous Friars Club in NYC this Saturday, Feb. 14.

How romantic is that?

Induction into the club is always marked by a group of comedians and newsmakers getting together to treat the newest member to some good-natured teasing before they’re allowed into the sect.

Kylie Minogue is set to release a cover of Barry Manilow’s signature disco smash “Copacabana.”

The 40-year-old Aussie songbird has been performing the 70s hit as part of her current world tour. She decided to release the a revamped version of the track as a single amidst pressure from adoring fans who loved the pop star’s take on the classic dance tune.

“Kylie had no plans to release it but after being bombarded by letters from fans she has decided to have it as a double A-side.”

Perhaps getting recording for the cover over on the wrong foot, Kylie has angered songwriter Bruce Sussman by asking for the woman’s name in the song to be changed from Lola to Kylie.

“Kylie wanted the lyric, “Her name was Lola, she was a showgirl” to be changed, but Bruce refused,” a celebrity snitch tells MSNBC.

“Bruce was furious. He told Kylie, ‘No way. Her name’s Lola. Not Lola Minogue, not Kylie.’”

A publicist for singer Barry Manilow has blasted a tabloid report claiming the 65 year-old entertainment legend is sick and near death.

This week’s issue of The Globe features a photo of the frail-looking “Copacabana” star under a headline that reads: Barry Manilow Ill!

The Globe claims the gaunt Manilow is suffering from an undiagnosed disease that has sunk his six-foot frame down to just 100 pounds.

Barry’s rep denied the report in a lengthy statement to the press on Thursday:

“We just saw a pretty outrageous headline on one of the tabloids claiming that Barry is ill and down to 100 pounds. Granted, he’s pretty trim. But 1oo pounds? Give us a break. Even Mary Kate and Ashley [Olsen] weigh more than 100 pounds. And no… he’s not ill.

By the way…we also saw a headline that said aliens had invaded Pomona. That headline, of course, is true.”
