President Barack Obama’s Thursday morning apperance on The View was one for the record books.

The telecast was the show’s most-watched episode ever, according to Nielsen Research. More than 6.6 million Americans tuned in to watch the president gab with Whoopi Goldberg, Barbara Walters, Joy Behar, Sherri Shepherd and Elisabeth Hasselbeck on everything from the crisis in the Gulf of Mexico to Justin Bieber and Snooki Polizzi.

The ladies of The View will welcome a very special guest to the gabfest this week: President Barack Obama.

The milestone interview will mark the first time a sitting United States president will visit a daytime talk show. Barbara Walters will return to the studio for the first time since undergoing open heart surgery in May.
Obama’s appearance is part of the show’s continuing “Red, White & View” campaign, which is committed to political guests and discussions. In April the show welcomed Vice-President Joe Biden.
