Just days after the death of Grammy winner Amy Winehouse, “Paper Planes” star M.I.A. has joined the brigade of stars (Lady Gaga, Annie Lennox, Kelly Clarkson, Tony Bennett, Usher, U2, James Blunt, and Rufus Wainwright) releasing tributes to the troubled Brit. On Monday, M.I.A. unveiled an Amy tribute song titled “27,” complete with lyrics about blowing money on drugs, failed rehab visits, and drinking yourself into a stupor.

A post-mortem exam performed on the five-time Grammy Award winner failed to establish a formal cause of death, London officials said Monday, prompting authorities to await the results of further toxicology tests.

News of the death of soul stirrer Amy Winehouse sent vibrations through the music world over the weekend: especially hard hit by Winehouse’s sudden passing was her ex-husband, Blake Fielder-Civil — the heroin addict who reportedly turned the singer on to drugs during a turbulent relationship she often referenced in song.
Fielder-Civil, now serving a 32-month prison sentence for burglary, collapsed in his cell upon learning of Amy’s death in her Camden home on Saturday.
