On The TODAY Show Tuesday, three aspiring young models relied eyewitness testimony of the chaotic America’s Next Top Model casting call in New York on Saturday.

Tyra Banks is reacting to the chaos that erupted during a New York City casting call for America’s Next Top Model on Saturday afternoon. The show’s hostess and executive producer unveiled future casting plans for the show in a statement released to the press on Monday.

Tyra says:

“To all the ‘Top Model’ hopefuls who were affected by the New York casting, we are doing everything we can to make sure that ALL the girls who weren’t seen, get an opportunity to audition — we’ll update you on our plans very soon. It is so important to me to redefine beauty, and make sure that everyone gets a fair chance to pursue their dream. I am beyond excited for Cycle 13; for the first time ever, young women 5′7″ and under have a shot at becoming ‘America’s Next Top Model’! I encourage each girl to come out ready to rock the runway and show off their fiercest pose. I’m rooting for all of you!”

Attention Pint-sized Princesses: Supermodel turned talk show personality Tyra Banks just announced that the next edition of America’s Next Top Model will only feature contestants under 5′7.”

The CW is currently casting for “females, ages 18 to 27 with a height requirement of 5’7” and under.”

“There have been top supermodels in the past that weren’t as tall as the industry demands, like fashion icon Kate Moss,” Tyra explained. “So we are changing up ‘Top Model’ for cycle 13 and making it a year for the shorter model!”

Clay Aiken will make a guest appearance on the new season of America’s Next Top Model, Us Magazine reported Wednesday. The American Idol Season 2 runner-up will work with aspiring models in an acting challenge on the April 8 episode.

Clay will also critique the contestant performances as part of the judges’ panel.
