In his address to Out subscribers, Hicklin claims Lambert’s label, 19 Entertainment, turned down earlier requests to feature him on the cover because they feared it would adversely impact record sales: “It’s only because this cover is a group shot that includes a straight woman that your team would allow you to be photographed at all — albeit with the caveat that we must avoid making you look ‘too gay,’” Hicklin writes.

“Getting straight men and women to do Out is easy these days. It gives them cred. The irony is that right now it would be easier to get Kris Allen to do a solo cover shoot for us. But only because he’s straight.”

Adam has responded to Aaron Hicklin’s accusations in a posting on his Twitter account, writing: “Dear Aaron, it’s def not that deep. Chill! Guess ya gotta get attention for the magazine. U too are at the mercy of the marketing machine. Until we have a meaningful conversation, perhaps you should refrain from projecting your publications’ agenda onto my career. Last week, the notorious Mr. Nasty penned a check for $160,000 for cancer treatment for Sophie Atay, an 18-month old girl who was diagnosed with a rare form of the disease called neuroblastoma earlier this year.

Doctors say immediate treatment could raise Sophie’s chances of survival from just 20 to 90 percent and Sophie’s mom has been campaigning tirelessly for weeks to raise the more than $800,000 needed for experimental treatment at Memorial Sloan Kettering in Manhattan. Luckily for the Atays, X-Factor star Alexandra Burke was touched by their story.

Alexandra alerted Simon of Sophie’s fight for life, and he generously paid the remaining amount necessary to get Sophie the care she needed.

“I’d told Simon about the situation and that there was no time to waste because Sophie needs the treatment immediately, and he decided to give her the money in a second,” Burke tells the Mail. “Now we’re hopeful Sophie will be on the flight to the U.S. today.”

“It’s dance music with a glam rock shuffle beat….” the glam rocker said of the single “For Your Entertainment” in an interview with On-Air With Ryan Seacrest.

Earlier this week, the Idol runner-up released widey-criticized cover for his upcoming album. Adam’s For Your Entertainment will be released Nov. 23.

“Thank you to those who appreciate and understand that the album cover is deliberately campy,” Adam tweeted. “It’s an omage (sic) to the past. It IS ridiculous.”

Okay…..The phrase “Lame Excuse” springs to mind, but whatever you say, Adam.

America’s favorite Idol runner-up wants his haters to know that there’s a reason his album cover looks the way it does — it’s exactly what he was going for, cheesy.

“For those that don’t get it: oh well…Glad to have gotten your attention,” Adam added. “Androgyny. Rock n Roll.”

Anywho, For Your Entertainment drops Nov. 23.
