How would you like to be a blogging rockstar for a music icon? “Unthinkable” songbird Alicia Keys appeared on ABC’s Good Morning America Tuesday where she announced that she is teaming up with Monster.com and launching an online search for a talented blogger to maintain her forthcoming website IAmASuperwoman.com, which Alicia describes as a “fun, inspiring online neighborhood for super women to check in with what other super women are thinking, doing, feeling, working on, eating, buying, wearing and laughing about, and to prompt discussions on things the modern super woman cares about.”
Grammy Award-winning songbirds Beyonce Knowles and Alicia Keys spent Tuesday filming a music video in a Rio de Janeiro slum. The ladies have descended on the shantytown of Morro da Conceicao to shoot a video for Keys’ “Put It In a Love Song,” the latest single from the album The Element of Freedom.
“Song” will reportedly see Beyonce and Alicia dressed in Carnival-inspired costumes — including Swarovski headwear and feature scenes from the Sambadrome Carnival Parade.
“It’s nice that we just celebrate each others careers, that’s what the song is about, coming together to empower each other,” Alicia told Brazilian newspaper O Dia of the track and Beyonce. “This song was meant for us at this time. We’ve become really good friends.”
The video — produced by Alicia’s married boyfriend Swizz Beatz — is expected to wrap shooting this week for a debut later this month.
Charles Barkley and Alicia Keys kicked off the decade’s first episode of Saturday Night Live over the weekend.
Perhaps Barkley’s funniest turn as host was as Alicia herself. The 6’5″ former NBA hoopster donned a curly wig and took his place behind a piano to play the sultry chart-topper during a sketch that aired during NBC coverage of the NFL Playoff game before the show.
The Grammy winner performed a couple of her hit songs during the show, most notably a version of “Empire State of Mind” to pay tribute to SNL’s hometown of New York City. A. Keys previously performed on a 2001 episode of SNL hosted by Reese Witherspoon. Charles made his last Live appearance alongside grunge pioneers Nirvana back in 1993.
Talent show sensation and YouTube celeb Susan Boyble claimed the No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200 for the fourth week in a row on Wednesday. I Dreamed a Dream, the debut album from the Scottish singing sensation, denied ten-time Grammy Award winer Alicia Keys the top spot.
On Tuesday, Harlem songbird Alicia Keys was a guest on Stephen Colbert’s Comedy Central hit, The Colbert Report. Check out The Element of Freedom star’s knee-slapping performance of the Jay-Z-assisted hit “Empire State of Mind,” featuring some suburban tweeking from Stephen!
