The How To Lose A Guy in 10 Days actress and the New York Yankees third baseman split earlier this month and sources claim the breakup came after A-Rod grew tired of the starlet’s spotlight-hogging smothering.
Say it ain’t so — are Alex Rodriguez and Kate Hudson dunzo? The Interwebs is atwitter with speculation over the unlikely union between the screen sweetheart and the Yankees slugger. Rumors of a split first began early Monday, with reports from HollywoodLife.com citing sources who spied A-Rod partying with several lovely ladies in Miami all weekend. Said partying went on sans Kate, who is in New York promoting the new musical motion picture Nine.
The third baseman also showed up solo to the Armani Exchange “Cool Shades of Style” dinner at Miami’s Delano Hotel Saturday night, where was overheard telling people that he and Kate had broken up. Snoops tell the site Alex was “acting very single” with two unidentified women at the weekend event.
Kate Hudson is still staying tight-lipped about her beau Alex Rodriguez. The Nine actress, 30, got giggly when late night giant David Letterman probed her about the specifics of her alleged romance with the Yankees slugger on last night’s Late Show.
“Yeah, he’s a friend of mine. Nice guy.”

New York’s own Jay-Z and Alicia Keys got World Series champ Alex Rodriguez — better known these days as Kate Hudson’s manbag — to introduce their live performance of the Big Apple’s new anthem, “Empire State of Mind,” at the 2009 AMAs Sunday.

The third baseman — who is still celebrating after clinching the Bronx Bombers’ 27th World Series Championship last Wednesday — was born Christian and briefly studied Kabbalah during his “affair of the heart” with pop star Madonna, now A-Rod is considering becoming a Buddhist now that he’s taken up with actress Kate Hudson.
According to GLOBE’s Loosch Lips Column: “It’s an important part of Kate’s life and Alex really wants to make her happy,” says a spy, who adds that Alex’s Buddha movie would hit a major home run with Kate’s mom, Goldie Hawn. “Goldie more than approves of Alex and if he becomes a Buddhist, it’s only seal the deal.”
