This just in: Grammy-nominated singer and card-carrying “California Gurl” Katy Perry will host and perform at this year’s Teen Choice Awards.

The 12th annual special will award the coveted Teen Choice Surfboard awards to Hollywood’s hottest teen icons in film, television, music, sports, and fashion.

The 2010 Teen Choice Awards airs Aug. 9 (8PM-10PM) on FOX. August will be a big month for Katy: The Smurfs starlet will release her third album, Teenage Dream, which features the summer anthem “California Gurls.”

FOX will announce Katy’s co-host, nominees, presenters, and more performers in the weeks to come.
