Miley Cyrus insists that her emotional response at the 2009 Kids’ Choice Awards was genuine.
The 16-year-old was so shocked and overjoyed tearful when she picked up the Favorite Female Singer at last Saturday’s ceremony that she burst into tears.
“I was a little embarrassed,” Miley told MTV News on Wednesday. “But then again, I shouldn’t be. It meant something to me because it’s from the kids…..Honestly, I didn’t think I was going to win it. It just made my day that I did. It means a lot to me.”
She adds, “The kids are more important than anything else in the world. So it made me happy.”

The actor and philanthropist will be presented with a new environmentally friendly award at this weekend’s Kids’ Choice Awards on Nickelodeon. On Saturday, March 28, Leo will be given the first “Big Green Help Award” by Cameron Diaz in recognization of his efforts to help the environment.

Embattled R&B crooner Chris Brown has removed his name from the 2009 Kids Choice Awards ballot, The Associated Press has learned. The move comes after Nickelodeon was urged to disqualify the “Kiss Kiss” star from contention over his felony arrest for assaulting nominee Rihanna in Los Angeles last month.
“Chris Brown has decided to withdraw his nominations from the Kids’ Choice Awards. We agree with and respect his decision, and are looking forward to presenting a great event for our audience,” Nickelodeon said in a statement. Read the rest of this entry »
