Warner Brothers Studio has begun campaigning for Heath Ledger to be nominated for a posthumous Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role as “The Joker” in the Summer 2008 blockbuster The Dark Knight.
Six actors have been nominated for an Oscar after death–the only posthumous award went to Peter Finch for his role in the film Network in 1976.

Ricky Gervais, the Emmy-winning creator of The Office, is being lined up to host the 2009 Academy Awards, Entertainment Weekly reports.
