Whoopi Goldberg was on-hand to deliver honors for Broadway’s biggest show’s on Sunday night. August: Osage County was named Best Play, winning five Tonys. In the Heights, a production about the Latino community in Upper Manhattan’s Washington Heights neighborhood, won Best Musical, in addition to four other trophies.

Burgeoning new designer Christian Siriano will ensure that Whoopi Goldberg does not look a “hot mess while hosting the 2008 Tony Awards live from NYC’s Radio City Music Hall on June 15th. The Project Runway 4 winner will be selecting Whoopi’s designer duds for Broadway’s biggest night.

“I am dressing Whoopi Goldberg for the Tonys,” Christian told E! reporters at the Declare Yourself and American Eagle celebrity T-shirt launch in Los Angeles last week.

Nominations were announced for the 62nd Annual Tony Awards during a press conference at Bruno Auditorium at The New York Public Library for Performing Arts early Tuesday. In The Heights, a vibrant look at live in the Dominican New York City neighborhood of Washington Heighs received thirteen Tony Award nominations-more than any other production.

Whoopi Goldberg will take a brief break from “enjoying The View” to host the 62nd Annual Tony Awards at New York’s Radio City Music Hall on June 15th.

“I’m very excited to be hosting the Tony Awards. I love Broadway, and I’m thrilled to be doing anything for the first time. I’m gonna have a blast,” said Whoopi, who is one of just nine entertainers to win a Tony, an Oscar, an Emmy, and a Grammy Award.

Nominations for Broadway’s biggest night will be announced next Tuesday.
