Britney Spears as “Abby The Receptionist” on HIMYM.

Britney Spears’ guest appearance on the hit sitcom How I Met Your Mother has been passed up for an Emmy award.

The pop tart was left off the short list for 2008 Primetime Emmy Award, in the category of Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series, for her role as receptionist Abby.

And let the fallout begin. Grey’s Anatomy insiders have branded actress Katherine Heigl “ungrateful” after the Knocked Up star withdrew her name from Emmy contention, citing a lack of credible storyline for her Dr. Isobel Stevens during last season of the ABC medical drama.

“I did not feel that I was given the material this season to warrant an Emmy nomination and in an effort to maintain the integrity of the academy organization, I withdrew my name from contention,” Katherine said Wednesday. “In addition, I did not want to potentially take away an opportunity from an actress who was given such materials.” Read the rest of this entry »

Britney Spears could earn an Emmy this Fall. Britney is one of forty-one actresses on the first official ballot released by the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences to its voters. The former pop star could be recognized for her two guest appearances as “Abby” on the CBS sitcom How I Met Your Mother earlier this year.
