Ratings for the 60th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards were a dud. In fact, the show could go down as the least-watched Emmy telecast in history.

Airing from 8-11 p.m. on Sunday night, this year’s averaged 12.2 million-that’s down six percent from the 2007 ceremony and is right on-course with the meager 12.3 million who tuned into the Emmys in the Fall of 1990.

A mini-scuffle broke out when Ryan Seacrest, Jeff Probst, Tom Bergeron, Heidi Klum, and Howie Mandel, who will share hosting duties at the 60th Annual Primetimes Emmys this weekend, got together for Jimmy Kimmel Live’s Emmy Preshow, airing this Sunday at 7 p.m. ET on ABC.

Here’s your first look at Ryan Seacrest (American Idol), Heidi Klum (Project Runway), Jeff Probst (Survivor), Tom Bergeron (Dancing with the Stars) and Howie Mandel (Deal or No Deal), the five hosts of the 2008 Primetime Emmy Awards, in a new promo ad for this year’s ceremony.

Each host is vying to be the first reality host to take home an Emmy in the Outstanding Host Reality or Reality Competition Program category.

“As we thought about the very important role of a host for this year’s show, it became more and more apparent that we should ask these people who do such great work as hosts on a weekly basis to host television’s night to shine. This is what they do best, and we’re convinced they’ll do a great job for us on Emmy Night,” says Emmy executive producer Ken Ehrlich.

The 60th Primetime Emmy Awards, television’s biggest night, will air on Sunday, September 21 at 8 p.m. on ABC.

The Top Five Most Popular clips in each category will be presented during the live broadcast of the Emmys on Sept. 21st, and the two winning moments will be revealed before the Outstanding Drama and Comedy Series winners are announced.

“I am so excited that the Academy has asked me to design a dress for this year’s Emmy Awards,” the star of MTV’s The Hills said in a statement Wednesday. “I will be doing a red carpet look that still reflects the simple classic design of the Lauren Conrad Collection but with a black tie twist.”

Emmy producers couldn’t be happier to have LC on board.

“We are very excited to have someone as talented as Lauren Conrad working with us to help make this a very memorable and exciting show,” executive producer Ken Ehrlich beamed.

Lauren’s first major gig as a fashion maven comes less than a month after her Lauren Conrad Collection clothing was chucked from posh Los Angeles boutique Kitson for lackluster sales.

The 60th annual Primetime Emmy Awards will air September 21 on ABC.
