
With the Writer’s Guild of America strike still wrecking havoc on Hollywood, Vanity Fair Magazine has decided to cancel its annual Oscar party. The star-studded afterparty is a celeb fave and widely considered to be the biggest affair of the night. In an issued statement, Vanity Fair says: “After much consideration, and in support of the writers and everyone else affected by this strike, we have decided that this is not the appropriate year to hold our annual Oscar party. We want to congratulate all of this year’s nominees and we look forward to hosting our 15th Oscar party next year.”

The Oscar nods are in! ‘No Country for Old Men’ and ‘There Will Be Blood’ both earned more nominations than any other film, eight, including Best Picture. They’ll be competing for the top prize with ‘Atonement,’ ‘Juno’ and ‘Michael Clayton.’ The 2008 Academy Awards ceremony is scheduled to air live on February 24 on ABC.
