Whoopi Goldberg held back tears on Monday’s installment of The View as she spoke of her disappointment at not being included in an Oscars montage despite hosting film’s biggest night in 1994, 1999, and 2002. The actress, who won gold for Ghost in 1990 and has hosted the Oscars, was left out of a montage of great moments from past shows, which ran during Sunday night’s Academy Awards ceremony.
Whoopi joked: “Undoubtedly, I pissed somebody off once again.”
Sunday night’s telecast of the 2008 Academy Awards may have drawn the smallest audience in Oscar history. Nielsen Media Research says preliminary ratings for last night’s 80th annual Academy Awards telecast are fourteen percent lower than the least-watched ceremony ever. The least-watched Oscars ceremony ever was in 2003, when there were thirty-three million viewers.
Actress Lindsay Lohan, whose 2007 film I Know Who Killed Me nearly sweeped the Golden Raspberry Awards on Saturday, was left fuming after not scoring a single sought-after 2008 Academy Award afterparty invitation.
“She’d rather stay at home – and feels no one takes her seriously as an actress anyway,” according to a published report.
Jennifer Garner was left nervous after Gary Busey confronted her on the red carpet at the Oscars – and kissed her. She told E! red carpet host Ryan Seacrest, “Ask me about getting kissed on the neck on the red carpet by this man… That was nice!” She then began looking worried as Gary refused to step away.
