Caster Semenya Suicide Watch
Caster Semenya, the champion South African runner who learned she is a hermaphrodite earlier this month, is reportedly on suicide watch.
Semenya was forced to undergo gender testing after questions arose about her muscular build and deep voice following her 800-meter win at the World Championships last month. The leaked details of the probe by the International Association of Athletics Federations showed the 800-meter champ had male and female sex organs and no uterus.
Psychologists are caring for the 18-year-old, who has been receiving “trauma counseling” since learning the test results, a South African newspaper has learned.
“She is like a raped person. She is afraid of herself and does not want anyone near her. If she commits suicide, it will be on all our heads. The best we can do is protect her and look out for her during this trying time,” Butana Komphela, chairman of South Africa’s sports committee said Tuesday.

The correct term is not hermaphrodite. It’s intersexual.

She obviously never once menstrated at the onset of puberty. How could she or her parents not know something was peculiar about their daughter. I mean isn’t she 18 or 19 now? Something does not seem right with them not knowing til now.

Richard please think and educate yourself about this issue… do you think her mother wouldn’t know if she has never mensturated do you she (caster) would have found that odd that she didn’t mensturate? To them she is a girl and has always been, image how would you would feel if you find out after a test that you are no longer a woman. The truama in that, case in point the was an Indian runner who went through the same thing. she lamost commited suicide also This issue is not that simple and remember now she is being defined by a test that says she’s no longer female

It should not be a big deal. She’s a human being just like anyone else and deserves to enjoy a happy and peaceful life no matter what. It is not the end of her world.
