Days after he was abruptly removed from a Los Angeles nursing home, radio icon Casey Kasem has been found alive in Washington State.
On Monday, a California judge ordered an investigation into Kasem’s whereabouts after his grown children claimed the star — who suffers from advanced dementia — had been uprooted from a treatment facility by his wife of three decades, Jean. The Kasem kids have long battled with Jean over their father’s care, which they say has prompted the Mrs. to bar them access to Casey, 82.
Deputies in Kitsap County performed a welfare check Tuesday at an address provided by California Adult Protective Services. Authorities found Casey and his wife visiting with the owners of the home. Keri Kasem, who was appointed the elder Kasem’s temporary guardian during Monday’s hearing, was the first to receive confirmation that her father is safe.
Kasem’s exact location in Washington “is still being determined,” Kitsap County authorities have not released the address where they found Kasem and after determining that the Scooby Doo star was not in duress did not taken him into custody.
The Kasem family still has “grave concerns about his medical care,” according to a representative for Keri.
“The Kasem family will do everything in their power to bring their father home.”
