Got’cha! Accused child killer Casey Anthony — a modern-day Carmen Sandiego if we ever saw one — has resurfaced. TMZ.com has gotten its hands on snaps of the 25-year-old shopping in Ohio, where she is believed to be living with relatives.
Photogs caught Anthony — who was acquitted of all charges in the disappearance and death of her two-year-old daughter, Caylee — walking around solo, clad in an Ohio State University baseball cap, glasses, plain t-shirt and jeans as she browsed inside a local Old Navy last weekend. The first images of Casey since her release from jail also show the Florida native texting on her phone and sipping on a beverage from Starbucks. Since Anthony’s release from jail, sources close to the brunette say she’s been traveling around the country, trying to stay incognito.
That might soon come to an end.
Anthony’s defense attorney Cheney Mason is fighting to block an attempt to send her back to Florida as part of her probation for an old check-fraud case, unrelated to the murder of Caylee Anthony. In 2008, Casey admitted that she fraudulently used her best friend’s checks to purchase more than $400 of clothing and groceries. Her legal team argues that sending her back to Orlando, where locals are stil incensed overthe verdict, put her life in jeopardy. Tensions about the Anthony trial have reached such a feverish pitch that the presiding judge has decided to withhold the names of the jurors for the next six months — for their own protection.
In court papers filed this week, Mason wrote: “Any requirement that she return to Orange County (would) put her in great peril, as well as impose a significant cost to taxpayers…”
He also pointed out Anthony had already served out her probation while in jail during the murder case and that the judge’s ruling in the check-fraud case had a number of technical errors.
