In an ode to 2013 posted to her Facebook page on Sunday, Good Morning America host Robin Roberts thanked her girlfriend for supporting her during her well-publicized battle with a rare blood disorder.
The posting marked a milestone for Robin, who was diagnosed with myelodysplastic syndrome last year. It also effectively pulled the respected news veteran out of the closet.
Roberts, 53, wrote on her Facebook wall:
“I am grateful for my entire family, my longtime girlfriend, Amber, and friends as we prepare to celebrate a glorious new year together…”
The message was a reference to Roberts’ partner Amber Laign, a licensed massage therapist. ABC’s go-to-gal in the AM has been “out” to friends, family and co-workers for years, but this is the first time she’s acknowledged her sexuality publicly.
