There’s nothing like a good scare just before Halloween…except maybe a good scare just before a major movie premiere.
The upcoming horror remake Carrie, starring Julianne Moore and Chloe Grace Moretz, opens in theaters Oct. 18. Director Kimberly Peirce steps behind the lens for yet another (the third at last count) modern retelling of the Sissy Spacek/Stephen King 1977 horror classic.
And in another move that’s a sign ‘o the times, Carrie producers have taken the film’s marketing pitch viral, pulling a telekinetic prank on unsuspecting coffee shop customers in the web’s latest viral sensation. In the smash video, spearheaded by the bosses at Sony Studios, an actress appears to use telekinesis — the power to move things with the mind — to exact revenge on a clumsy coffee drinker.
Thanks to the special effects team from the reboot Carrie, patrons of Manhattan’s ‘Snice got a good show witnessing a young lady with “telekinetic” abilities throwing a guy up a wall and generally freaking out, wreaking havoc on the corner of the shop.
