“Bruno” NC-17 Rating
Sacha Baron Cohen’s new comedy Bruno, set to debut on the big screen in July, has been given an NC-17 rating on its first submission to the Motion Picture Association of America, according to TheWrap.com.
Reporter Sharon Waxman claims the theatrical debut of Cohen’s flamboyant hairstylist failed to land an R-rating due to the presence of numerous over-the-top sexual scenerios that the ratings board takes objection with–including one in which the star appears to be engaging in anal sex with another man.
A Universal spokesman confirmed that the film did not get the R rating, but says that it is still “early” in the process.
