“The Boss” Bruce Springsteen has joined the league of celebrities speaking out against Saturday’s acquittal of George Zimmerman in the shooting death of Trayvon Martin, an unarmed Florida teen Zimmerman mistook for a prowler.
The “Dancing in the Dark” hitmaker dedicated his song “American Skin (41 Shots)” to the slain 17-year-old during a concert in Ireland Tuesday. Before breaking into song, Bruce told the audience:
“I want to send this one out as a letter back home. For justice for Trayvon Martin.”
He opened and closed the set with a rendition of the Christian spiritual “This Little Light of Mine.” Springsteen originally penned “Skin” following the shooting of Amadou Diallo, an unarmed Guinea immigrant gunned down by New York City cops in 1999.
