Britney Spears sparked drama during a concert in Vancouver on Tuesday after she walked off stage and threatened to abandon the show if fans in the crowd didn’t stop smoking marijuana.

Three songs into her set, Britney walked off stage because the atmosphere became too smoky. Fans were told the atmosphere was “unsafe” for the singer and her dance troop to continue performing.

The star kept fans waiting in the dark for 20 minutes before a PA came on a told audience members to stop smoking marijuana.

Spears wrapped up the drama-filled evening by telling the audience: “Thanks Vancouver. You were wonderful. Drive safe. Don’t smoke weed!”

A spokesperson for the star addressed the issue in a press statement on Wednesday: “We want to apologise to all the fans who attended our Vancouver show tonight for the brief pause in Britney’s set.”

“Crew members above the stage became ill due to a ventilation issue.”
