Britney Spears Cancels “Christmas In Rockefeller Center” Tree-Lighting Performance
The return of “Psycho Brit” could be closer than originally thought.
Just hours after turning in a critically-hailed Tuesday morning performance on Good Morning America, this year’s Queen of Comebacks has infuriated producers of NBC’s 2008 Christmas in Rockefeller Center broadcast by backing out of plans to perform on the program in the eleventh hour.
“You have no idea how many times Britney has changed things on us, at least 14 times since I got here on Thursday,” a source tells OK!. “It is Britney Spears and she can do that because they want her to boost ratings but no one is happy putting up with this. I probably shouldn’t say this but guys on the crew were making bets about whether she would show up at all.”
Instead, Spears will offer a video greeting, via pre-recorded message, during tomorrow’s night’s live broadcast. But there will be no singing from the Britster when the lights of the Rockefeller Center tree flicker for the first time this holiday season.
“She was originally supposed to perform live and then she wanted to pre-tape her performance instead. Then she didn’t want to do that. She keeps changing her mind and now she’s not performing at all but she is still supposed to pre-tape at 7 p.m.”
The 76th Annual Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony takes place Wednesday, December 3, 2008 from 7-9 p.m.
