Britney Spears and Tara Reid on the Great White Way! Well…not really. The troubled lives of Hollywood bad girls Britney Spears and Tara Reid will be chronicled to comedic perfection in a new Off-Broadway musical, entitled Girls Day, Or Britney and Tara Stare into the Void and the Void Stares Back. The play’s plot follows Tara and Britney as they spend an afternoon of mayhem together one month after the pop star is released from Malibu’s Promises Treatment Center
Dateline: Los Angeles, California. March 21, 2007. Britney Spears checks out of Promises Treatment Center after a one-month stint in rehab. So what’s next for the derailed pop princess? GIRLS DAY, natch! Britney calls up gal pal Tara Reid to join her for one special, unforgettable day. An American tragedy, with special guest appearances by Jayden James, Sean Preston, a publicist, a social worker and, of course, K-Fed.
“This play is only very peripherally based on true events. To paraphrase Paula Vogel, the play is one westerner’s misunderstanding of his own culture,” says the show’s playwright Steven Levenson.
Jenn Harris will play Britney Spears as Sarah Saltzberg lands into the role of Tara Reid.
The curtain goes up on this “tragi-comedy” at the Ace of Clubs Theatre (9 Great Jones Street, New York City) on May 11th.
Show times are Sundays and Mondays at 8 PM. Tickets are $18 and available by visiting www.SpinCycleNYC.com or by calling (212) 352-3101.
