It took 20 years, but Lloyd and Harry are back on the silver screen.
We’ll let you decide whether that’s a good thing or a bad thing.
The long time coming sequel Dumb and Dumber To opens in theaters across North America Nov. 14, following years of lobbying from directing duo Bobby and Peter Farrelly. The Farrelly Brothers first started tinkering with the idea of stepping back behind the camera for a sequel to their 1994 comedy classic, Dumb and Dumber, in 2011.
At the time, Bobby said he’d only consider reviving the franchise, if he could enlist stars Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels. (The flick spawned the 2003 prequel Dumb and Dumberer: When Harry Met Lloyd, which did not feature Carrey or Daniels.) Speaking to Moviehole, Farrelly said:
“[Dumb and Dumber] has run a bunch of times on TV in the States and kids will come up and they’ll be able to quote lines from that, lines that I’ve long forgotten. If we could get those two guys back together, Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels that might be a worthwhile sequel… We’re starting to think about what those two dimwits would be doing 20 years later in life.”
The following year, Carrey and Daniels signed on to reprise their roles as two of cinema’s most moronic buddies, Lloyd Christmas and Harry Dune. Both stars(not in costume, of course) dropped by The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon on Tuesday to formally introduce the world premiere of the Dumb and Dumber To trailer.
