“Breaking Dawn” Author Stephenie Meyer Plagiarism Claims
Stephenie Meyer, The New York Times Best-Selling Author of The Twilight Saga, has been accused of plagiarism by another novelist.
In a cease and desist letter sent to the publishers of Meyer’s 2008 book Breaking Dawn — the fourth in the hit series — Scott claims that the 2008 novel bears a “striking and substantial similarity” to her 2006 fantasy work, The Nocturne.
Scott accuses Meyer of recreating specific scenes from her own vampire novel and using almost-identical dialogue.
A rep for Meyer insist the plagiarism claims are completely false.
“The claim that Breaking Dawn by Stephenie Meyer somehow infringes on an alleged book by someone named Jordan Scott is completely without merit,” a rep told TMZ.com on Tuesday. “Neither Stephenie Meyer nor her representatives had any knowledge of this writer or her supposed book prior to this claim.”
