Rap star Kanye West was met with a succession of resounding Boooooos! as he took the stage two hours late at the Bonnaroo Arts & Music Festival this weekend.

Organizers for the event, held at a 700-acre site just outside Nashville, say the delay was the result of Ye’s “elaborate stage set.” The notoriously arrogant rapper had been scheduled to take the main stage at 8:45 pm Saturday, but just before taking the stage, Kanye asked to perform at 2:45 a.m. Sunday morning. Then a message on the jumbotrons told the audience the show would be delayed until 3:15 a.m., then 3:30 a.m Kanye didn’t hit the stage until 4:25 a.m…he offered no apology.

Pedal steel guitarist Robert Randolph criticized the Grammy winner for disappointing his fans-which inspired a “Kanye sucks” chant from the audience.
