It was a monumental moment when Bobby Brown returned to the stage. It was the first time he graced the stage since his daughter Bobbi Kristina Brown’s death.
The 46-year-old New Edition member, and solo artist, took to the stage to perform at the Hollywood Bowl for a show on Sunday night. Brown, who seemed to be in good spirits, performed Mary J. Blige’s “Real Love,” a classic from the decade in which his star rose.
According to TMZ, Brown’s return wasn’t without the mention of his daughter Bobbi Kristina. During a brief break told the audience,” Thank you for all your prayers, everybody.”
Bobby Brown’s daughter, 22, was found on unconscious face down in the bathtub of her Atlanta home in January 31. She was found in similar fashion as her mother, world renowned Pop vocalist Whitney Houston, who drowned in a bathtub back in 2012, on the eve of the Grammy Awards.
It’s said Bobby Kristina was found by her partner Nick Gordon. Brown’s daughter remained unconscious and in a medically induced coma for five months prior to her death. During that time, Bobbi Kristina was supervised by countless doctors. When her team of doctors tried to assess her brain damage by taking her out of the medically induced coma, she started having seizures, and the doctors were forced to put her back under.
Although many of her family members had hope that she would have a good outcome despite her declining health, Bobbi Kristina was transferred to hospice and made comfortable. Brown’s daughter died July 26, 2015. At the time of her death, Bobby Brown opened up to E! in a heartbreaking statement:
“Krissy was and is an angel. I am completely numb at this time. My family must find a way to live with her in spirit and honor her memory. Our loss is unimaginable. We thank everyone for the prayers for Krissy and our family as we mourn my baby girl.”
Right now there’s an on-going investigation into the death of Bobbi Kristina. Her partner Nick Gordon is the main suspect in a wrongful death suit.
Although it hasn’t been a great few months for Bobby Brown, with his return to the stage, it seems like he’s at least trying to move on with his life, and sustain some kind of normalcy in the wake of his daughter’s death. While Brown’s daughter was still in a coma, he celebrated the birth of his daughter Bodhi Jameson Rein Brown with wife Alicia Etheredge.
In addition to daughters Bobbi Kristina and Bodhi, Brown also has son Landon, 29, daughter LaPrincia, 25, son Robert Brown Jr, 27, and son Cassius, 6.
The last time Bobby Brown took to the stage was at the Soul Food Festival back in April. It was an emotional appearance as he was still reeling from his daughter’s condition. At the time, Brown spoke to the audience, “You know, rough times are rough times. Hard times are hard times. I don’t know what the hell I’m going through right now, but I’m giving it to God and letting him deal with it.”
Best wishes to Bobby Brown.
