Why, hello there, baby Blue!
For those not in-the-know, proud parents Beyonce and Jay-Z have released photos of, you guessed it, their baby girl, Blue Ivy Carter. Hip-hop’s notoriously private royal couple, who welcomed their new addition in a shroud of secrecy on Jan. 7, posted a series of snapshots on Tumblr Friday with the message:
“We welcome you to share in our joy. Thank you for respecting our privacy during this beautiful time in our lives.”
Fans have actress Jessica Alba to thank for this glance at little Blue. The actress reportedly urged Hov and Bey to sell the first pictures of their child so that they could “control the experience.” The preemptive strike takes the fun (and the money) out of the chase for snapping shutterbugs who seek to sell celebutot’s first pics to the highest bidder.
Earlier this week, Beyonce and her hubs have filed an application to trademark their daughter’s name, tipsters with knowledge of the arrangement revealed to The Washington Post. The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office is expected to grant copyright rights on the name “Blue Ivy Carter” to Beyonce’s company, BGK Trademark Holdings.
It isn’t so odd: Parents are authorized to trademark their children’s names when they are minors, as The Post points out. The couple is said to be considering abandoning their home in New York and moving aboard to Europe in a bid to raise Blue with more privacy.
Who do you think Blue favors more — Mama Bey or Daddy Jay?
