Billy Ray Cyrus On Miley Cyrus Pole-Dancing Controversy (VIDEO)

At the Hellmans/Facebook Feeding America Charity Event on Thursday aftenoon, country star Billy Ray Cyrus responded to the controversy surrounding daughter Miley’s controversial pole-dancing routine at the Teen Choice Awards earlier this month.

While performing her hit song, “Party In The USA” at the Aug. 10 event, the 16-year-old Disney star gyrated feverishly and danced next to a metal pole attached to the top of an ice cream cart. Her seductive dance moves drew criticisms across the Web.

When asked about the controversy, Billy Ray replied: “You know what? I just think that Miley loves entertaining people. She loves singing [and] songwriting.”

“I always tell her to love what you’re doing and stay focused for the love of the art and not worry so much about opinion,” he added.

Do you think Billy Ray is being a bit cavalier about the severity of the situation? After all, the child already has a pedo stalker following her around the country. Is it really a good idea to fan the flames with R-rated choreography?

I think that she went too far with this. Yes, maybe her goal is to entertain people but when you are dancing for kids and teens that is defnitely inappropriate.

Wrongness is in the minds of adults and not the actions of teens or pre-teens. We lived through Elvis and his hips. Let’s try and get past Miley Cyrus pole dancing with an ice cream pole.

Fact one: The was no “pole dancing”. She barely touched the pole.

Fact two: Comparing this young, talented singer (who has yet to bring much negative attention to herself, aside from a few “sexy” pics) to celebrities who have blantantly made bad images of themselves is absurd. Has this singer been caught drinking underage? No. Has she been caught doing illegal drugs? No. Has she made any obscene gestures on TV or towards the media? No. She’s never been caught flippin’ the bird, hurting a camera man, and I’d be willing to say she’s never even slipped with a “cuss” word in public. Yeah, she was a bit young to pose so seductively on the cover of a magazine, in my opinion, but really? Are we goinig to take away the ton of positive images from this talented young singer (who, by the way, is unbelievably sucessful) because we read into something that maybe, could be, considered “too sexy” if we think with perverted minds and see with perverted eyes?

Grow up. Stop blaming your lack of responsibility on celebrities, the media, movies… Children today are growing up troubled NOT because of these people, but because parents pass the buck and continue to blame everyone but who deserves it – themselves. There are some role models who aren’t living up to their jobs, and these role models are the parents. Do your job, take responsibilty for your actions and the actions of your underage children. If they are doing something you don’t like, stop it. Don’t blame everyone else.
