Billy Mays Dead — “OxiClean” Pitchman Billy Mays Dies
Billy Mays, the television pitchman best known for endorsing products like Orange Glo and OxiClean, has died. He was 50.
Authorities say Mays was pronounced dead Sunday morning after being found in his Tampa, Florida home by his wife, Deborah Mays. There were no signs of a break-in, and investigators do not suspect foul play. The coroner’s office expects to have an autopsy completed by Monday afternoon.
The family will not be making any public statements and is requesting privacy as they mourn.
Mays was also featured on the reality TV show Pitchmen on The Discovery Channel.
“Everyone that knows him was aware of his larger-than-life personality, generosity and warmth,” Discovery Channel spokeswoman Elizabeth Hillman said in a statement Sunday. “Billy was a pioneer in his field and helped many people fulfill their dreams. He will be greatly missed as a loyal and compassionate friend.”
So sad…How many times have you fallen asleep with the TV on only to be jarred awake hours later by the sound of Billy Mays hawking a container of OxiClean? R.I.P. Billy…
