Another season, another injured celebrity on Dancing with the Stars.
Classic kids show titan Bill Nye and professional hoofer Tyne Stecklein have emerged as fan favorites on the 17th season of ABC’s ballroom dance series — this despite landing at the bottom of the leaderboard two weeks running. Now Nye’s troubles on the dance floor have gone from technical to medical.
On Monday’s show, the self-proclaimed “Science Guy” tripped near the end of his critically-panned paso doble. As luck would have it, the snafu was more serious that anyone realized. On Tuesday, Nye posted an Instagram photo of himself in a doctor’s office with his leg bandaged — and the prognosis isn’t exactly rosy.
“Here is the scoop: partially torn ligament. Awaiting the doc’s orders with Tyne. We plan to dance! Stand by…”
Injuries are fairly common for Dancing celebs. Olympian Misty May-Treanor was forced withdraw from the show after tearing her Achilles tendon. Reality star Lisa Vanderpump was treated for exhaustion during her brief stint on the program. Melissa Gilbert even gave herself whiplash and a mild concussion during a especially vibrant paso doble!
