Donald Trump may think he rules New York – and apparently the media and perhaps the entire free world – but if pop culture ever had an equivalent big name, big ego, and big powerhouse, it’s Madonna. And Madonna is speaking up on Rosie’s behalf.

It’s not like Madge has ever been shy or backed away from a scandal, so it’s no surprise that she’s ready to defend her friend.

Although she only heard about the Trump-O’Donnell feud while out in the middle of the Indian Ocean, she e-mailed her longtime friend to discuss it. Then she stated, “I have a feeling that if every stand-up comic was penalized for saying politically incorrect things or provocative things, I think they’d all be hung in the public square.”

Good point. The real question though, is not whether Donald is right or whether Rosie is right. By this point the real question is why do any of us still care?
