Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez are proud parents.
Put down your pitchforks, Beliebers. There’s nothing taking up residence in Selena’s uterus (Not that we’re aware of anyway…) — but the teen lovers are now sharing responsibility for Baylor, a pint-sized husky mix they fell head over heels for after a visit to D’Arcy’s Animal Rescue Centre in Winnipeg over the weekend. Talk about a case of real-life puppy love! Selena, who is currently on tour and played in the Canadian city over the weekend, already owns five rescue dogs. Her beau Justin is also a pooch owner and has lent his famous face to a PETA campaign encouraging pet lovers to adopt homeless animals.
Selena, 19, was able to take Baylor home after going through a routine screening process.
“They spent a lot of time with the puppies,” D’Arcy Johnston, the rescue’s chief executive officer, tells PEOPLE. “I was told that [Gomez] was missing the dogs that she has at home.”
“I wasn’t expecting her to adopt a dog while she was on tour and has a busy schedule. Baylor probably would have had a bad life or a very short life, but he got rescued and brought to our shelter and is now going to live a very good life.”
The loved-up pair celebrated the new addition to the family by getting lusty at a hockey match later that afternoon. Justin and Selena were spied snuggling and smooching as they, ahem, “watched” the game from a sky box.
